Designing a free Pnp Game inspired by Highlander

I have been frustrated these last couple of years with no "Highlander" type boardgame. Highlander, in case you don't know, is a film and TV franchise following the adventures of Immortals fighting each other throughout history. I loved the 1st movie and the TV show needless to say.

Anyways, I got the Highlander CCG, but it's just sword dueling. The rich tapestry of history is scarcely there. So, I decided I'm going to build a Highlander-inspired free Print-n-Play pdf boardgame and upload it on Boardgame geek one of these days.

I did my first playtest with my gaming friends Jim, Pixie and Jeff recently. Needless to say, there was some things to iron out, but I'm working on revising the game mechanics.

I bought a large world map, put stickers on them, and we hashed out my rules I did on a Sunday.

We tried using in the first playtest, 2 coloured minis I did for each player, but the new Immortal spawning rules didn't really work out.

In playtest 2, we used poker chips, which worked better. We also tweaked the rules to 5 Immortal pieces each, and no respawning for new Immortals.

After the playtest session, I decided to put smaller round game pieces using felt pads and stickers and named them, for the next playtesting. I still want to use minis, but we'll see.

Will continue in part 2.
